“Out of the blue… That’s how ideas for the best things sometimes come. Maybe it’s luck, maybe it’s imagination combined with intuition. Maybe it’s all of them.
Sometimes you have to catch an idea to keep it from flying away. To develop it, to get it out of a cloud of uncertainty. To set its exact shape and context that will give it the weight of a real product. And there are also ideas that are better left to fly away.”
“Colourful nebula illustrate the scene in which ideas are born and visions materialise. Out of the blur, the
outlines of future objects slowly emerge, floating through space. The dreamscape becomes brighter with each
floor, making everything around us lighter and lighter, until we finally rise with it above the clouds.”
The exhibition Out of the blue by the design team Lexová&Smetana, which has been working together since 2018, is a playful story with not just one, but several good endings. The installation presents a kind of topographical scheme of design made up of two landscapes – a free space infused with imagination on the one hand and a grounded space bounded by the possibilities of reality on the other. Symbolically, it demonstrates the thrilling duality that turns the designer’s work into an exciting adventure.
